Legacy Letter December 2017

25 January 2018 – Dear Brethren and Fellow Laborers, Over the winter break,SengAung, our pastor in Jawk Taing, Myanmar, and his family went to NaMawn in Kachinland. HtooGay, a Legacy grad (who is also finishing up his last year in high school), went along. There we have a small group of brethren of which some are also family to SengAung. It’s quite a long trip. Here is what Seng Pan wrote to me: “Thaungoo to Mandalay 8 hours, Mandalay to Kachin state Hopin town (18 hours by train), Hopin to NaMawn 1 hour by motorcycles. It takes two nights and two days long. We can go by bus too, more quick one and half day long but, more expensive.”

22 July 2017 – Dear Friends and Fellow Laborers, FOURTH OF JULY IN THAILAND – Thailand does not have an independence day, since the kingdom of Thailand never broke away from anyone. But my family and I are Americans living in Thailand, so we decided to have a small celebration of July Fourth. I broke out my father’s memorial flag that was given to my mother at my father’s funeral, which included a 21-gun salute by the local VFW. We also had fire crackers the grandkids set off and enjoyed special snacks…

NOVEMBER – DECEMBER 2018 Dear Brethren and Fellow Laborers, We weren’t back home from the Feast of Tabernacles three weeks, before we were already in the air again to Bangkok for a very honored and special invitation to attend Princess Sirindhorn, on behalf of Queen Sirikit, for a Khon (mask play)…

It continues to amaze me just how much modern development is taking place in this backwater country. It is as if they have suddenly awakened from the Dark Ages.
